The diamond trade is one of very few areas of business to operate an authoritative and sophisticated method of grading its products. All three of the internationally recognised diamond grading laboratories endeavour to ensure through multiple examination of the diamonds by at least three experienced graders that the assessment is precisely and indisputably determined.
The resulting certification therefore means that the customer can be assured that they are buying a natural diamond without themselves having to acquire gemological expertise. The diamond report issued for each stone in Arete Diamond's selection provides all of the necessary information on which the price is determined. The report can thus be used to make a comparison with other price offers.
The three leading institutions are HRD, GIA and IGI. Minor differences in certification have no qualitative effect upon the comparability of their certificates. In all cases the basis for the evaluation are the four C's: Carat, Colour, Clarity, and Cut.
The integrity of these diamond grading houses is guaranteed by their having no interest in the buying and selling of diamonds.
Each gem offered by Arete Diamond comes with the assurance of its own internationally recognised certificate issued by one of the three leading diamond laboratories, HRD, GIA, or IGI.
